Making it pretty for the holidays: DIY on the cheap

It'll be our 2nd Christmas in our new house, last year I didn't do much in dressing up our home for the holidays however, this year I've been searching through Pinterest looking for inspiration.  I went on a pinning spree late in the night, planning out what I'd like to do. I saved my Pinned list to my phone and went hunting for items that reflected my list.
My plan was instead of hitting up the typical decor stores I'd do a little hunting for my holiday treasures.

The Road Less Travelled.. why we chose to homeschool

There was a point in my life, where I thought the idea of home schooling our kids was beyond me. After all, I didn't graduate from high school (short 1 credits), didn't have a college/university degree, I did attend a trade school....but somehow I still didn't see that I could go down this road. I thought, seeing as I didn't get the education via University.. or a a teaching degree therefore I must not be equipped.. or so I thought.

Honouring those who serve

We grew up as army kids, my dad served in the military (Royal Canadian Regiment, 2 RCR) up until I was in grade 1.  My dad's the guy you'll always see sporting his pro-militia t-shirt, his 2 RCR lapel pin, his yellow ribbon magnet on his bumper of the car and he'll be the first to support his friends who have served. So back In October, my dad and I took an overnight road trip to Penticton BC to meet one of his buddies, Bob, that has served for our country.
